Abstract
ABSTRACT
Pregnant women often experience back pain, which is a common disease. Due to the physical and hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy, back discomfort is a common complaint. As a non-pharmacological treatment, red ginger compress is known to contain essential oils and oleoresins, which can provide a warming effect and reduce pain. Previous studies have shown that using red ginger compresses significantly reduces pain levels. As a result, this treatment can be a safe and practical substitute for dealing with back pain complaints during pregnancy.
This case study aims to help pregnant women in the third trimester at PMB Meiciko Indah, S.ST., Bdn South Lampung, with lower back pain by using red ginger compresses. To relieve lower back discomfort in pregnant women in the third trimester, a case study using Varney's seven stages and red ginger compresses was used. Midwifery care was shown to Mrs. S 25 years old G1P0A0 pregnant 28 weeks. The location of the data assessment will be carried out at PMB Meiciko Indah, S.ST., Bdn South Lampung and documentation will be carried out using SOAP
According to the evaluation findings, applying red ginger compresses to pregnant women in the third trimester helped alleviate lower back pain. It was confirmed that the mothers' back discomfort was reduced after receiving the red ginger compress. Using red ginger compresses on pregnant women for 20 minutes, changing the juice every 5 minutes, and doing this for three consecutive days, the first day of back pain assessment using a facial pain scale resulted in a facial expression of 4, indicating very severe pain, and the third day after receiving red ginger compresses resulted in a facial pain scale with a facial expression of 2. Because of these findings, the authors recommend that midwives be allowed to apply red ginger compresses to pregnant women in their third trimester who have low back pain.
