Abstract
ABSTRACT
Based on data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2020, surgical procedures or operations on children reached approximately 17.3% of the total operations performed in hospitals. Planning for surgical procedures can cause physiological and psychological responses in patients, namely anxiety. One spiritual approach that can help reduce anxiety levels is Asmaul Husna therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Asmaul Husna therapy on pre-operative anxiety levels in children at Muhammadiyah Hospital, Metro City in 2025. This type of research is quantitative with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study sample was taken using accidental sampling (accidental samples) with a sample size of 39 respondents. The study was conducted in July–August 2025. The data collection instrument used the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results of the study showed that the level of anxiety before being given Asmaul Husna therapy was mostly in the severe anxiety category (92.3%), whereas after being given therapy it decreased to mild anxiety (56.4%) and moderate anxiety (43.6%) with a p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05) which indicates a significant effect of Asmaul Husna therapy on reducing pre-operative anxiety levels in children. The results of this study can continue to be applied as non-pharmacological therapy to reduce pre-operative anxiety in children at Muhammadiyah Hospital, Metro City, for future researchers, they can continue the research by adding other variables so that the research results become more complex.
