Abstract
ABSTRACT
Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that remains a global health problem, including in Indonesia. The physical environment of TB patients' homes plays an important role in the spread of this disease. This study aims to determine the condition of the physical environment of the homes of patients with pulmonary TB in the working area of Puskesmas Panjang, Bandar Lampung City in 2025, focusing on five aspects: occupancy density, room lighting, room humidity, temperature, and ventilation rate.
The method used was descriptive research with a quantitative approach. A sample of 60 houses with pulmonary TB was selected by purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria. Data were collected through direct observation and interviews, then analyzed univariately.
The results showed that the occupancy density was eligible in 67% of the houses, room lighting was only eligible in 22% of the houses, room humidity was eligible in 75% of the houses, room temperature in 70% of the houses, and the ventilation rate was only 33% of the houses that were eligible. Lighting and ventilation are the two factors that most do not meet health requirements.
It can be concluded that most of the houses of patients with pulmonary TB have physical environmental conditions that do not support the prevention of TB transmission, especially in the aspects of lighting and ventilation. Educational interventions and physical improvement of the home environment are needed to support the control of pulmonary TB disease.
Keywords : Pulmonary tuberculosis, physical environment of the house.
