Abstract
ABSTRACT
Around 6.21% of households in Indonesia in 2022 experienced food insecurity, which decreased compared to 2023 by 5.12% (BPS Lampung Province 2024) if this continues to happen, it will cause food insecurity in the region to increase. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics and food security of households in families with children aged 6-23 months at the Sukadamai Health Center.
The type of research that will be used is quantitative descriptive research with interview data collection techniques and HFIAS questionnaires. The research population is 3 villages with 337 respondents selected purposively. The number of samples is 120 respondents, and the sampling technique is accidental.
The results of this study indicate that the characteristics of respondents aged toddlers are mostly 12-23 months (72.5%), and most are male (57.5%). The ages of mothers and fathers are both in the productive age, with the average population age of mothers between 29-31 years, for the average population age of fathers 32-34 years. Most mothers work as housewives (90%), and fathers work as farmers (35.8%). Most respondents have family members ≥4 people (73.3%), and have an income ≤Rp528,226.00. Household food security is included in the food secure category (75.8%), while for nutritional status BB/A, as many as 77.5% of toddlers have normal nutritional status. Based on the cross-tabulation of food security on the nutritional status of toddlers, it was found that there is an influence of food security on the nutritional status of toddlers where families with food security tend to have normal nutritional status of toddlers (60.0%), but there are still households that are also food secure but have toddlers with poor nutritional status (8.3%), and very poor (3.3%).
For families, it is expected to utilize the yard as a source of family food to help meet daily needs. And it is expected to implement KB or family planning as an effort to improve family welfare and household food security.
