PENGETAHUAN DAN SIKAP DALAM PENGELOLAAN SAMPAH PADA SISWA DI SMP NEGERI 2 BAKAUHENI KABUPATEN LAMPUNG SELATAN TAHUN 2025

ABSTRACT
Environmental pollution due to poor waste management is a global and national issue, exacerbated in Indonesia by an increasing population and changing lifestyles. This triggers environmental damage and public health risks (Kahfi, 2017).
This study aims to measure the knowledge, attitude, and availability of waste management infrastructure facilities among students of State Junior High School 2 Bakauheni 2025. Using a cross-sectional analytical observational design with quantitative data, this study took 87 samples from a population of 383 students using random sampling and the Slovin formula. Data were collected directly through questionnaires.
The results showed 77% of students had good knowledge about waste management and showed good behavior, 23% had less knowledge and also had good behavior and there were no students with less knowledge. Regarding attitude, 60% of students showed a good attitude, while 40% had a poor attitude, with no one having a deficient attitude. Although the education staff room and classrooms are clean and equipped with cleaning tools, the waste management infrastructure in the school is still less than optimal, characterized by trash bins without lids and the absence of separation of waste types. Improved facilities are urgently needed.
