ABSTRAK
Scabies is a skin disease caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis, commonly found in tropical and subtropical regions. Its prevalence is closely linked to personal hygiene and environmental sanitation. This study aims to assess personal hygiene and environmental sanitation conditions at Madarijul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Teluk Betung Barat District, in the year 2025. This descriptive study involved 255 student respondents.
The results showed that 47.06% of students met the standards for skin cleanliness, 83.14% for clothing cleanliness, 94.37% for hand and nail hygiene, and 44.31% for towel cleanliness. Clean water usage met the standard at 100%, latrine availability at 80%, while housing density did not meet the standard at all (100%). Waste management met the standard at 55.56%, and only 4.76% of dormitory rooms met the standards for temperature and humidity.
It is concluded that several aspects of personal hygiene and environmental sanitation need improvement. The boarding school is advised to enhance housing facilities, ventilation, and sanitation infrastructure. Students are expected to maintain regular personal and environmental hygiene to prevent the transmission of scabies.
