GAMBARAN PENGETAHUAN DAN SIKAP MAHASISWA PRODI D III TEKNIK GIGI DALAM PENGGUNAAN ALAT PELINDUNG DIRI PADA PRAKTIKUM CASTING LOGAM DI LABORATORIUM TEKNIK GIGI

ABSTRACT

The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is to protect workers and prevent occupational diseases. As for some personal protective equipment that can be used in work in the field of machinery or when learning in the laboratory include head, eye, respiratory, ear, hand, leg and body protective equipment.
The purpose of this study was to describe the knowledge and attitudes of students of D III Dental Engineering Study Program in using personal protective equipment during metal casting practicums in the Dental Engineering Laboratory of the Tanjungkarang Health Polytechnic.
The population of this study were 2nd and 3rd grade students of the Department of Dental Engineering, Tanjungkarang Health Polytechnic in 2022, a total of 58 people. The sampling technique in this study was total sampling, therefore the sample in this research was 58 people, the research design used was descriptive research, and the instrument used was a questionnaire with ordinal measurements, and this study used univariate data analysis.
The results of this study are that the highest percentage level of knowledge is a good level of knowledge as many as 55 respondents (95%) and the highest percentage of attitudes is that they strongly agree regarding the use of metal casting PPE in metal casting practicum as many as 55 respondents 83.96%. But in reality, many students are not disciplined about using PPE during metal casting practicums. For this reason, the authors suggest efforts to increase awareness, make regulations for the use of metal casting PPE in the laboratory, and increase supervision of the use of casting PPE.
